Nonprofit/NGO Leadership Survey

Virtual Volunteers is an independent, unbiased nonprofit research organization based in the United States. By participating in this global research initiative, you’ll help nonprofit, NGO, civil-society, charitable, community-based, and voluntary-sector organizations better understand emerging trends and shape the future of volunteering.

About me: After a 34-year career conducting primary research, I recently co-founded Virtual Volunteers, Inc. to explore how volunteer engagement can evolve to better serve nonprofit, NGO, civil-society, charitable, community-based, and voluntary-sector organizations, volunteers, and communities in a rapidly changing world. I am producing this study pro bono.

We are beginning by listening. This study is designed to learn from nonprofit, NGO, civil-society, charitable, community-based, and voluntary-sector leaders worldwide; identify emerging practices and unmet needs; and share useful insights with the global volunteer-engagement community. It is not research about volunteer-management software, and we are not selling a product or seeking funding. This is pure, objective independent research. You may request a copy of the results at no charge.

Terminology varies across countries and communities. Throughout this survey, ‘nonprofit/NGO’ is used broadly to include civil-society, charitable, community-based, and voluntary-sector organizations. ‘Volunteer’ includes people who contribute their time without conventional wages, regardless of the terminology used locally.
The main survey takes approximately 10 minutes, with an optional set of follow-up questions for those willing to share more.

Your responses will be reported in aggregate and treated as confidential unless you specifically authorize acknowledgment or quotation. Providing contact information is optional unless you ask us to contact you, send you the findings, or enter you in the donation drawing.

Participation in this research is open to nonprofit, NGO, civil-society, charitable, community-based, and voluntary-sector leaders worldwide. Survey participants who meet the eligibility requirements may also enter a drawing to have Virtual Volunteers make a $1,000 donation to an eligible U.S. nonprofit organization of their choice. No purchase or donation is necessary. View the official rules.
